Loving Father,
\non this weekend, when we rest from our usual labors,
\nwe pray for all who shoulder the tasks of human labor\u201d\u201d
\nin the marketplace, in factories and offices,
\nin the professions, and in family living.<\/p>\n
We thank you, Lord, for the gift and opportunity of work;
\nmay our efforts always be pure of heart,
\nfor the good of others and the glory of your name.<\/p>\n
We lift up to you all who long for just employment
\nand those who work to defend the rights and needs
\nof workers everywhere.<\/p>\n
May those of us who are now retired
\nalways remember the valuable contribution we make
\nto our Church and our world
\nby our prayers and deeds of charity.<\/p>\n
May our working and our resting give you praise
\nuntil the day we share together in eternal rest
\nwith all our departed in your kingdom
\nas you live and reign
\nFather, Son, and Holy Spirit,
\none God, forever and ever.<\/p>\n
