I don\u2019t find these arguments persuasive, but they\u2019re not stupid.<\/p>\n<p>But I\u2019ve always thought it disastrous to use the \u201cGod loves you just the way your are\u201d\u009d and \u201cGod doesn\u2019t want you to change\u201d\u009d slogans, along with the closely related \u201cGod doesn\u2019t make mistakes\u201d\u009d shibboleth.<\/p>\n<p>Why? Because it turns Christianity into bourgeois religion, and the church into an affirming chaplaincy for the status quo.
