{"id":29401,"date":"2011-11-18T17:00:59","date_gmt":"2011-11-18T17:00:59","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/127.0.0.1\/site\/2017\/2\/1985\/church_times-women_bishops_approved_by_42_out_of_44_dioceses\/"},"modified":"2011-11-18T17:00:59","modified_gmt":"2011-11-18T17:00:59","slug":"church_times-women_bishops_approved_by_42_out_of_44_dioceses","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/kendallharmon.net\/?p=29401","title":{"rendered":"Church Times&#8211;Women bishops approved by 42 out of 44 dioceses"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>THE diocesan synods of Liverpool, Newcastle, Oxford, Portsmouth, Southwark, and York debated the draft legislation on women bishops on Saturday, and all six backed it in all three houses.<\/p>\n<p>But York diocesan synod went on to carry a following motion: \u201cThis Synod calls upon the House of Bishops, in exercise of its powers under Standing Order 60(b), to amend the draft Bishops and Priests (Consecration and Ordination of Women) Measure in the manner proposed by the Archbishops of Canterbury and York at the Revision Stage for the draft Measure.\u201d\u009d This was carried by 62 to 24, with six abstentions.<\/p>\n<p>In total, 42 out of the 44 dioceses have voted in favour of the legisla\u00c2\u00adtion.
