{"id":31553,"date":"2012-03-25T00:05:10","date_gmt":"2012-03-25T00:05:10","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/127.0.0.1\/site\/2017\/2\/1985\/secretary_general_releases_statement_on_the_anglican_covenant_as_it_is_unab\/"},"modified":"2012-03-25T00:05:10","modified_gmt":"2012-03-25T00:05:10","slug":"secretary_general_releases_statement_on_the_anglican_covenant_as_it_is_unab","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/kendallharmon.net\/?p=31553","title":{"rendered":"Secretary General Releases Statement on the Anglican Covenant as It is Unable to pass in the C of E"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>(ACNS) In the light of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.thinkinganglicans.org.uk\/archives\/005425.html\">today\u2019s news about the decisions of the dioceses of the Church of England about the Covenant<\/a>  I wanted to clarify the current situation across the Anglican Communion.<\/p>\n<p>In December 2009, as requested by the Standing Committee, I sent the text of The Anglican Communion Covenant to all the Member Churches of the Anglican Communion asking that they consider it for adoption according to their own internal procedures.<\/p>\n<p>I have received notifications from eight Provinces that they have approved, or subscribed, the Covenant or, in the case of the Anglican Church of Southern Africa, have approved pending ratification at the next synod which is usual procedure in that Province.<br \/>These Provinces are:<br \/>\nThe Church of Ireland<br \/>\nThe Anglican Church of Mexico<br \/>\nThe Church of the Province of Myanmar<br \/>\nThe Anglican Church of Papua New Guinea<br \/>\nThe Church of the Province of South East Asia<br \/>\nThe Anglican Church of Southern Africa<br \/>\nThe Anglican Church of the Southern Cone of America<br \/>\nThe Church in the Province of the West Indies<br \/>\nWhat next steps are taken by the Church of England is up to that Province. Consideration of the Covenant continues across the Anglican Communion and this was always expected to be a lengthy process.
