{"id":42072,"date":"2014-01-14T22:32:52","date_gmt":"2014-01-14T22:32:52","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/127.0.0.1\/site\/2017\/2\/1985\/rns_5-3_billion_people_face_harsh_religious_freedom_restrictions\/"},"modified":"2014-01-14T22:32:52","modified_gmt":"2014-01-14T22:32:52","slug":"rns_5-3_billion_people_face_harsh_religious_freedom_restrictions","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/kendallharmon.net\/?p=42072","title":{"rendered":"(RNS) 5.3 billion people face harsh religious freedom restrictions"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Global religious hostilities reached a six-year high in 2012 and affected more people than government curbs on religious freedom, according to the Pew Research Center\u2019s latest report on religious restrictions around the world.<\/p>\n<p>The report, released Tuesday (Jan. 14) ahead of National Religious Freedom Day on Thursday, shows that 74 percent of the world\u2019s population experienced high levels of social hostility toward religion, up from 52 percent in 2011.<\/p>\n<p>The sharp rise is due to hostilities in China, which for the first time in the survey\u2019s six-year history, scored a \u201chigh\u201d\u009d level of religious strife.
