There were 3.8m long-term unemployed in February 2014, according to the latest labour department data, more than double the pre-financial crisis level of 1.9m in August 2008. The share of the jobless who have been out of work for more than six months has nearly doubled over that timeframe, from 19.8 per cent to 37 per cent.

Read it all (if necessary another link may be found there).

Update: There is more from the Washington post there.

America’s long-term jobless face huge obstacles in returning to steady full-time employment, with just 11 per cent succeeding over the course of any given year, according to new research that raises alarm bells about structural problems in the US labour…

[39,40,175,589,149,168,119,104,133,597,151,129,95,596,34

post-43177","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-culture-watch","category-economics-politics","category-anthropology","category-corporationscorporate-life","category-economy","category-ethics-moral-theology","category-globalization","category-health-medicine","category-history","category-laborlabor-unionslabor-market","category-politics-in-general","category-psychology","category-science-technology","category-the-credit-freeze-crisis-of-fall-2008the-recession-of-2007","category-theology
["GET
