Nearly every day, Stacey Brayboy, director of U.S. Sen. Barack Obama\u2019s S.C. presidential campaign, marched into a St. Andrews Road grocery store to buy her favorite drink, lemonade, and chip away at the ambivalence of one of the store\u2019s female security guards.<\/p>\n
\u201cI talked to her. I gave her literature. I got her phone number. She became my own little focus group,\u201d\u009d Brayboy said.<\/p>\n
During visit No. 8, Brayboy delivered the final pitch: \u201cHave you been contacted by any of those other campaigns?\u201d\u009d Brayboy asked. \u201cEdwards? Clinton?\u201d\u009d<\/p>\n
The security guard shook her head from side to side. \u201cWhat does that tell you?\u201d\u009d asked Brayboy, a Manning native. \u201cThey don\u2019t care. But we want your vote because it matters to us.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe need you.\u201d\u009d<\/p>\n
