So I\u2019m grateful for a growing list of books on Scripture that have stirred and strengthened my faith.<\/p>\n<p>For instance, Warfield\u2019s The Inspiration and Authority of Scripture laid a bedrock foundation I return to constantly. Packer\u2019s \u201cFundamentalism\u201d\u009d and the Word of God crystallizes and condenses some of the same essential arguments. Bavinck\u2019s Prolegomena is lucid, rock-solid, and pastorally perceptive. Timothy Ward\u2019s Words of Life helpfully unpacks Scripture\u2019s role in God\u2019s plan of salvation, as does Scott Swain\u2019s outstanding Trinity, Revelation, and Reading.<\/p>\n<p>Kevin DeYoung\u2019s new book Taking God at His Word now occupies a special place on this list. It\u2019s the best book I\u2019m aware of on the doctrine of Scripture that virtually any church member can read.<\/p>\n<p>In eight short chapters, DeYoung traces the basic contours of what the Bible teaches about the Bible.
