{"id":47909,"date":"2015-01-16T16:00:11","date_gmt":"2015-01-16T16:00:11","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/127.0.0.1\/site\/2017\/2\/1985\/church_times_report_proposes_big_drive_to_attract_new_priests\/"},"modified":"2015-01-16T16:00:11","modified_gmt":"2015-01-16T16:00:11","slug":"church_times_report_proposes_big_drive_to_attract_new_priests","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/kendallharmon.net\/?p=47909","title":{"rendered":"(Church Times) Report proposes big drive to attract new priests"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The annual number of candidates for ministry needs to increase by 50 per cent within five years, according to a report by a task group looking at ministerial education in the Church of England.<\/p>\n<p>The report, Resourcing Ministerial Education, one of a series published this week as part of the Archbishops&#8217; programme for renewal and reform of the C of E, calls for &#8220;a cohort of candidates for ministry who are younger, more diverse, and with a wider range of gifts to serve God&#8217;s mission&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>To achieve this, it proposes an eight-fold increase in training programmes that helps those under 30 to explore vocations, from the present 30 participants a year to 250.
