{"id":48668,"date":"2015-03-03T23:05:29","date_gmt":"2015-03-03T23:05:29","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/127.0.0.1\/site\/2017\/2\/1985\/yesterdays_fort_worth_legal_decision_iv-fort_worth_diocesan_statement\/"},"modified":"2015-03-03T23:05:29","modified_gmt":"2015-03-03T23:05:29","slug":"yesterdays_fort_worth_legal_decision_iv-fort_worth_diocesan_statement","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/kendallharmon.net\/?p=48668","title":{"rendered":"Yesterday&#39;s Fort Worth Legal Decision (IV)&#8211;Fort Worth Diocesan Statement"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>On Monday, March 2, 2015, the 141st District Court granted our Motion for Partial Summary Judgment regarding all diocesan property, with the exception of All Saints\u2019, Fort Worth, which Judge Chupp severed for a separate trial.<\/p>\n<p>Nearly six years after we were first sued by The Episcopal Church and its local representatives, the court has confirmed the Diocese\u2019s right to dissociate from TEC and for the Corporation to retain its property.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are grateful for the ruling in our favor,\u201d\u009d said Bishop Iker. \u201cIt\u2019s clear that both church laws and Texas laws have been rightly applied to this dispute.\u201d\u009d<\/p>\n<p>In granting our motion, the Hon. John Chupp has ruled that Bishop Iker and the duly-elected officials of the Diocese and Corporation control the Episcopal Diocese of Fort Worth, its Corporation, all endowments and funds, and all property that has been disputed in this litigation.
