A plurality say they attend church to be closer to God (44%) and more than one-third say they go to learn more about God (37%). Getting outside the humdrum of their everyday lives to experience transcendence\u201d\u201din worship, in prayer, in teaching\u201d\u201dis a key desire for many Millennials when it comes to church.<\/p>\n
Two-thirds of survey participants say a good description of church is \u201ca place to find answers to live a meaningful life\u201d\u009d (a lot + somewhat = 65%). Over half say \u201cchurch is relevant for my life\u201d\u009d (54%), and about half \u201cfeel I can \u201d\u02dcbe myself\u2019 at church\u201d\u009d (49%). Three out of five survey respondents don\u2019t agree that \u201cthe faith and teaching I encounter at church seem rather shallow\u201d\u009d (not too much + not at all = 62%), and about the same number don\u2019t believe \u201cthe church is not a safe place to express doubts\u201d\u009d (60%).<\/p>\n
That\u2019s a lot of open windows.<\/p>\n
