{"id":49280,"date":"2015-04-09T02:56:09","date_gmt":"2015-04-09T02:56:09","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/127.0.0.1\/site\/2017\/2\/1985\/fp_elite_u-s-_military_gear_hoarded_by_isis_leaders\/"},"modified":"2015-04-09T02:56:09","modified_gmt":"2015-04-09T02:56:09","slug":"fp_elite_u-s-_military_gear_hoarded_by_isis_leaders","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/kendallharmon.net\/?p=49280","title":{"rendered":"(FP) \u201d\u02dcElite\u2019 U.S. Military Gear Hoarded by ISIS Leaders"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Despite the images we\u2019ve seen splashed across the web of Islamic State fighters driving around Syria and Iraq in American Humvees and waving U.S.-made weapons, there really isn\u2019t all that much American military gear floating around out there.<\/p>\n<p>But what equipment has been captured by the radical Islamists has the tendency to float upward toward the leadership who covet the \u201celite\u201d\u009d U.S. gear, according to a group cataloging illicit arms transfers.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking to a small April 7 gathering at the Stimson Center in Washington, Jonah Leff, director of operations for Conflict Armament Research said that American equipment actually \u201crepresents a small fraction\u201d\u009d of the 40,000 pieces of gear his teams have cataloged in northern Iraq and Syria since last summer.
