The Situation on the ground for voluntary organisations working with families is \u201cchaotic\u201d\u009d, the Bishop of Southwark has said.<\/p>\n
He highlighted problems faced by the organisations during a debate on \u201cstrengthening families, community cohesion and social action\u201d\u009d in the House of Lords on Thursday, February 28.<\/p>\n
The Rt Rev Tom Butler said funding continuity was one of the particular issues leading to uncertainty.<\/p>\n
He said Christian organisations, such as Welcare in his diocese, are \u201ccommitted to supporting families through prayer, pastoral care and in other practical ways \u201d\u201d and through the provision of education\u201d\u009d.<\/p>\n
Bishop Butler told peers: \u201cI wish to focus on the delivery of family care at local borough level, for here \u201d\u201d despite what were well intentioned changes in the delivery of services \u201d\u201d it is our experience that the current situation on the ground is chaotic.”<\/p>\n
