{"id":51338,"date":"2015-08-28T04:46:02","date_gmt":"2015-08-28T04:46:02","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/127.0.0.1\/site\/2017\/2\/1985\/guardian_british_library_will_lend_worlds_oldest_bible_to_british_museum\/"},"modified":"2015-08-28T04:46:02","modified_gmt":"2015-08-28T04:46:02","slug":"guardian_british_library_will_lend_worlds_oldest_bible_to_british_museum","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/kendallharmon.net\/?p=51338","title":{"rendered":"[Guardian] British Library will lend world&#39;s oldest bible to British Museum"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The British Library is to lend one of its greatest treasures, the world\u2019s oldest bible, to the British Museum for an ambitious and groundbreaking exhibition exploring 1,200 years of Christian, Islamic and Jewish faith in Egypt after the pharaohs.<\/p>\n<p>The Codex Sinaiticus is one of the most important books in the world and has only been lent once, in 1990 \u201d\u201c also to the British Museum \u201d\u201c when both collections shared the same building.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt is quite phenomenal they they are able to lend it to us,\u201d\u009d said Elisabeth O\u2019Connell, assistant keeper in the British Museum\u2019s department of ancient Egypt and Sudan. \u201cWe are absolutely thrilled.\u201d\u009d<\/p>\n<p>The codex dates back to the 4th century AD.
