I come to you today, O Lord,
\nTo give up my rights,
\nTo lay down my life,
\nTo offer my future,
\nTo give my devotion, my skills, my energies.
\nI shall not waste time deploring my weaknesses
\nNor my unfittedness for the work.
\nI acknowledge your choice with my life
\nTo make your Christ attractive and intelligible
\nTo those around me.
\nI come to you for spiritual preparation.
\nPut your hand upon me,
\nAnoint me with the oil of the One with Good News.
\nSave me from compromise,
\nHeal my soul from small ambitions,
\nDeliver me from the itch to always be right,
\nSave me from wasting time.
\nI accept hard work, I ask for no easy place,
\nHelp me not to judge other who walk a smoother path.
\nShow me those things that diminish spiritual power in a soul.
\nI now consecrate my days to you.
\nMake your will more precious than anybody or anything,
\nFill me with your power
\nAnd when at the end of life\u2019s journey I see you face to face
\nMay I hear those undeserving words,
\n\u201cWell done, you good and faithful servant\u201d\u009d.
