Last year, the AOOIC communiqu\u00c3\u00a9 recommended the omission of the Filioque clause \u201d\u201c the words \u201cand the son\u201d\u009d which western churches added to \u201c\u201d\u00a6which proceeds from the Father\u201d\u009d in the Nicene Creed without international consensus. The Anglican co-chair of the Commission, Bishop Gregory Cameron from St Asaph in Wales, said at the time that it had \u201clong been a source of contention between Western and Eastern Christians.\u201d\u009d<\/p>\n
In their communiqu\u00c3\u00a9 issued at the end of last week\u2019s talks, the members of the AOOIC said that \u201chaving completed its work on the Procession of the Holy Spirit at its 2015 meeting, the Commission continued its reflection on the second part of its Agreed Statement on pneumatology, \u201d\u02dcThe Sending of the Holy Spirit in Time (Economia).\u2019<\/p>\n
\u201cThis second part considers the action of the Holy Spirit in the life and mission of the Church making it one, holy, catholic and apostolic. The Co-Chairs signed the second part of Agreed Statement that will be sent to our churches for reflection and comment, after which the Commission will produce the full statement, \u201d\u02dcThe Nature and Work of the Holy Spirit,\u2019 in its final form.\u201d\u009d<\/p>\n
