The vision of Isaiah the son of Amoz, which he saw concerning Judah and Jerusalem in the days of Uzzi\u2032ah, Jotham, Ahaz, and Hezeki\u2032ah, kings of Judah.<\/p>\n
Hear, O heavens, and give ear, O earth;
\n for the Lord has spoken:
\n\u201cSons have I reared and brought up,
\n but they have rebelled against me.
\nThe ox knows its owner,
\n and the ass its master\u2019s crib;
\nbut Israel does not know,
\n my people does not understand.\u201d<\/p>\n
Ah, sinful nation,
\n a people laden with iniquity,
\noffspring of evildoers,
\n sons who deal corruptly!
\nThey have forsaken the Lord,
\n they have despised the Holy One of Israel,
\n they are utterly estranged.<\/p>\n
Why will you still be smitten,
\n that you continue to rebel?
\nThe whole head is sick,
\n and the whole heart faint.
\nFrom the sole of the foot even to the head,
\n there is no soundness in it,
\nbut bruises and sores
\n and bleeding wounds;
\nthey are not pressed out, or bound up,
\n or softened with oil.<\/p>\n
Your country lies desolate,
\n your cities are burned with fire;
\nin your very presence
\n aliens devour your land;
\n it is desolate, as overthrown by aliens.
\nAnd the daughter of Zion is left
\n like a booth in a vineyard,
\nlike a lodge in a cucumber field,
\n like a besieged city.<\/p>\n
If the Lord of hosts
\n had not left us a few survivors,
\nwe should have been like Sodom,
\n and become like Gomor\u2032rah.<\/p>\n
