Many young single men would benefit from the kind of community life <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/news\/in-theory\/wp\/2016\/02\/10\/being-single-shouldnt-mean-being-alone\/?tid=a_inl\">extolled by Eve Tushnet<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Nor should we discourage 20-something men who are in love and seem to have the basis for a strong marriage from tying the knot. After all, the divorce risk associated with marrying younger <a href=\"http:\/\/family-studies.org\/replicating-the-goldilocks-theory-of-marriage-and-divorce\/\">drops off<\/a>markedly by the time young adults hit their mid-20s, and the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov\/pmc\/articles\/PMC3437253\/\">odds<\/a> of forging a happy marriage are actually the best for those who marry then.<\/p>\n<p>In the real world, the evidence shows that single men aren\u2019t necessarily having the most fun \u2014 despite the footloose and fancy-free lifestyle depicted onscreen.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/news\/in-theory\/wp\/2016\/02\/13\/why-single-men-may-not-be-having-the-most-fun\/?tid=ss_tw-bottom&amp;utm_term=.4b53f0eaea8e\">Read it all<\/a>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>In our desire to understand and normalize the increasing prevalence of single living, we shouldn\u2019t minimize the difficulties that many young men face without the meaning, direction and support offered by marriage.
