When a Today programme host calls Thought for the Day \u201cdeeply, deeply boring,\u201d he\u2019s talking about me. Literally.<\/p>\n<p>Tomorrow at 6am, I\u2019ll get up, pull clothes over my pyjamas, take a taxi to Tunbridge Wells and be ready to talk God at 7.47am. \u201cGood morning, Tim,\u201d John Humphrys will say. And I\u2019m tempted to blow a rude, ripe raspberry down the microphone.<\/p>\n<p>People can\u2019t seem to agree on why they dislike Thought for the Day. My conservative friends complain it\u2019s too secular and packed with Buddhists and Hindus. The people at Today say that it\u2019s far too Christian and preachy.<\/p>\n<p>In fact, it\u2019s designed to tackle a contemporary issue from a faith perspective before a general audience, so it\u2019s written in a very particular, careful manner.
