C. Sproul was once\u00a0<a class=\"\" href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=fjul5GM9HZ0\">asked<\/a>\u00a0what he wanted written on his tombstone, he replied cheekily, \u201cI told you I was sick.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>That was in 2015, after the esteemed teacher and author\u2019s health declined severely following a stroke. This December, the 78-year-old was hospitalized and was forced to rely on ventilator support to breathe during his 12-day stay, due to complications from chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). He died on Thursday.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text\">\u201cHis tombstone wouldn\u2019t be able to hold the words of what he\u2019s meant to so many,\u201d\u00a0<a class=\"\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/Pastor_Gabe\/status\/941410162065268736\">tweeted<\/a> Kansas pastor Gabriel Hughes. \u201cWell done, good and faithful servant.
