The ambition behind the Government\u2019s new environmental plans is \u201cterrific\u201d, and shows it to be \u201ccaring for God\u2019s creation\u201d the Bishop of Salisbury, the Rt Revd Nick Holtam, has said.<\/p>\n
Bishop Holtam, the C of E\u2019s lead bishop on environmental issues, said on Thursday that it was good news that the environment had become a\u00a0priority,\u00a0and that there was \u201ca recognition of the state we are in\u201d.<\/p>\n
It was \u201ca very significant document\u201d, Bishop Holtam said, and accompanied by a \u201cvery significant speech\u201d.<\/p>\n
The plan was unveiled by the Prime Minister on Thursday morning. The Government is to introduce a raft of proposals designed to eliminate all avoidable plastic by 2042.<\/p>\n
Speaking at the launch of the Government\u2019s new 25-year environmental plan<\/a> on Thursday, the Prime Minister announced a war on plastic waste, calling it \u201cone of the great environmental scourges of our time\u201d.<\/p>\n
