{"id":77865,"date":"2019-01-29T16:02:30","date_gmt":"2019-01-29T21:02:30","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/kendallharmon.net\/?p=77865"},"modified":"2019-01-29T17:57:01","modified_gmt":"2019-01-29T22:57:01","slug":"guardian-bbc-year-of-beliefs-to-shine-light-on-faith-and-values-in-modern-uk","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/kendallharmon.net\/?p=77865","title":{"rendered":"(Guardian) BBC &#8216;Year of Beliefs&#8217; to shine light on faith and values in modern UK"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The <a class=\"u-underline\" href=\"https:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/media\/bbc\" data-link-name=\"auto-linked-tag\" data-component=\"auto-linked-tag\">BBC<\/a> is launching a year-long series of programmes examining faith, belief and values in modern Britain.<\/p>\n<p>As part of its coverage of a society that is \u201cmore diverse, more complex and more divided than ever before\u201d, the corporation will launch a major survey of attitudes to contentious issues and ethical dilemmas.<\/p>\n<p>The broadcaster\u2019s \u201cYear of Beliefs\u201d commissions include landmark series and one-off documentaries on television and radio to address issues such as science and religion, LGBT+, circumcision, surrogacy and medical ethics.<\/p>\n<p>Among the programmes is Inside the Vatican, a look behind the scenes at the independent city-state at the heart of the Catholic church, filmed over a year. The two-part documentary promises \u201castonishing access\u201d, including to Pope Francis, the choristers of the Sistine Chapel, the Vatican\u2019s security personnel, diplomats and gardeners.<\/p>\n<p>A one-off documentary, Welcome to the Bruderhof, explores a village near Hastings that is home to 300 Christians who live together as disciples of Christ, spurning cars and mobile phones.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/media\/2019\/jan\/28\/bbcs-year-of-beliefs-to-shine-light-on-faith-and-values-in-modern-uk\">Read it all<\/a>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The BBC is launching a year-long series of programmes examining faith, belief and values in modern Britain.
