EEOC<\/a>. The key: Private religious schools and institutions have the right to take doctrinal issues into account when hiring and firing teachers and staffers.<\/p>\n Why? Because the professionals in these academic communities are \u201cministers,\u201d in that their lives and work are linked to the doctrines affirmed in their job descriptions, contracts and\/or covenants.<\/p>\n It\u2019s important that reporters \u2014 the USA Today<\/em> story is only one example \u2014 frequently mention this \u201cminister\u201d status, without explaining the Supreme Court context.
