Bishop Duncan will remain on the diocesan payroll as an administrative adviser, but with no sacramental ministry or authority to act for the diocese, said the Rev. David Wilson, president of the Standing Committee and rector of St. David’s in Peters.<\/p>\n
“It’s not going to make a whole lot of difference. We have not looked forward to this day, but we are prepared for it” he said.<\/p>\n
The Rev. James Simons of St. Michael of the Valley, Ligonier, the only member of the Standing Committee opposed to secession, agreed.<\/p>\n
“I’m saddened by it,” he said of the bishops’ vote. “I think it’s unfortunate that this has happened. The bishops should have waited until after the vote takes place at the diocesan convention. I suspect this will encourage people to vote for realignment. The Standing Committee is not going to change course.”<\/p>\n
