The closest English equivalents are \u201chack\u201d and \u201ckludge,\u201d methods employed when conventional solutions are costly, arduous or impossible.<\/p>\n<p>Indians usually encounter <em>jugaad<\/em>in the more humdrum spheres of life\u2014getting a seat on a train, for example, or a low-cost repair to a car.
