{"id":87144,"date":"2019-12-04T07:30:35","date_gmt":"2019-12-04T12:30:35","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/kendallharmon.net\/?p=87144"},"modified":"2019-12-03T19:09:01","modified_gmt":"2019-12-04T00:09:01","slug":"mw-fewer-americans-are-donating-to-charity-and-it-may-have-nothing-to-do-with-money","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/kendallharmon.net\/?p=87144","title":{"rendered":"(MW) Fewer Americans are donating to charity \u2014 and it may have nothing to do with money"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Fewer Americans are giving money to charity, and their relationship with God may have something to do with it.<\/p>\n<p>The share of U.S. adults who donated to charity dropped significantly between 2000 and 2016, according to <a class=\"icon \" href=\"https:\/\/scholarworks.iupui.edu\/bitstream\/handle\/1805\/21217\/vanguard-charitable191022.pdf?sequence=1&amp;isAllowed=y\" target=\"_new\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">an analysis<\/a> released this month from the Indiana University Lilly Family School of Philanthropy and Vanguard Charitable.<\/p>\n<p>By 2016, just over half \u2014 53% \u2014 of Americans gave money to charity, down from 66% in 2000. That figure held mostly steady until the Great Recession.
