But plans have been in place since 2011 \u2014 when 47 per cent of stipendiary clergy were due to retire within the decade \u2014 to reduce clergy posts to the minimum sustainable number of 215 (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.churchtimes.co.uk\/articles\/2020\/12-june\/news\/uk\/chelmsford-diocese-set-to-cut-60-stipendiary-posts-in-the-next-18-months\">News, 9 June<\/a>).<\/p>\n<p>A traffic-light system will operate, where posts \u201cto be retained or filled if vacant\u201d are classified as Green, and those \u201cdesirable and should be retained if finances permit\u201d are Amber.
