He was educated in Athens where he became friends with St. Basil the Great, by whom he was consecrated bishop of Nazianzus. He had a profound knowledge of Holy Scripture, and St. Jerome states that St. Gregory was his catechist. pic.twitter.com/qbBOVXrv8L
