   I’ve seen this replay many times and agree that it’s a magnificent shot. However, I am a little dismayed by Rooney’s actions after the kick, when he sprints to the corner and thrusts his arms out and back as if to say “adore me!” There was no recognition of his teammate, Nani, who put in a cross from the right flank (yes, it did glance off Pablo Zabaleta).

   I wince when I see this display of self-aggrandizement and hubris.
