[blockquote]McCain’s top economic advisor, Douglas Holtz-Eakin, was pressed by reporters — somewhat incongruously — about the pregnancy news… Holtz-Eakin finally snapped: “This is the governor’s daughter. It is their issue. This is something we believe ought to be treated with a lot of respect. … She has a family, she loves that family, and this is their business.”[/blockquote]
Economists just went up in my general estimate. Funny how the reporters had to get some sort of quote from somebody, who in this case knows little to say.
ABC News George Stephanoupolis just made the statement that; “We wonder what else we don’t know about Sarah Palin.”
This is none of his business. I turned ABC off and may never turn it on again.
Stephanoupolis might have been figuring that his chances for a Cabinet position just went down. (I hope you spelled his name right, I just cut and pasted…) George is not a reporter in this case, he is a commentator, as he’s got a dog in the fight.
Face it, the only reason this was brought to the front by Palin was because the liberal bloggers and news service would have reacted exactly as they have today. The only additional fodder would have been that there was a cover-up. This is the typical way in which the left operate. They manufacture a scandal where there is none, destroy as many people as possible and then search for the next target.
I have no doubt that if McCain had picked Romney or Pawlenty, we would have a scandal today. If he picked Jesus of Nazareth, they would be questioning his fitness for office because he was born out of wedlock.
Meanwhile, John Edwards is back on the lecture circuit….
Obama’s comments were finally the type of thing I’d been hoping to see all along from the man. Daughters, sons and extended family are off-limits (unless, like Billy Carter and Libya, Donald Nixon and Vesco, or Hillary Clinton and Health Care, they impose themselves into the operations of government).
I still have a lingering distaste for McCain because he did tell that grotesque joke about Chelsea Clinton.
If you read the original blogs to the LA Times article, they reek with an anti-Christian bias. I will support Dr. Dobson’s Focus on the Family approach to moral family benchmarks and process any time over the vituperation I read on those blogs.
While I won’t be voting for him, I give Sen. Obama many kudos for his comments about this. Maybe we are entering a better era of civility in politics if the likes of Sens. Obama and McCain are the icons.
I couldn’t seem to get James Dobson’s statement. We are in China and a lot of sites are blocked. Did find this:
[blockquote] A brief statement attributed to Sarah and Todd Palin and released by the campaign Monday said that Bristol Palin would keep her baby and marry the child’s father. The baby is due in late December.
“Our beautiful daughter Bristol came to us with news that as parents we knew would make her grow up faster than we had ever planned. We’re proud of Bristol’s decision to have her baby and even prouder to become grandparents.
“Bristol and the young man she will marry are going to realize very quickly the difficulties of raising a child, [b]which is why they will have the love and support of our entire family,” the parents said.[/b][/blockquote]
I am more and more impressed with Sarah Palin.

frreed, you crack me up but you are so right. Amen. The family is handling it like a Christian family should. Leave them alone.

Yeah, if Sarah Palin’s daughter is pregnant, then Mrs. Palin is logically in cahoots with the Taliban.
I like what Dr. Dobson said.
