The Rt. Rev. Orris Walker, Jr., Bishop of Long Island since 1991, began a leave of absence due to health issues June 1 that will continue until Nov. 14, the day he previously announced as his resignation.

I have to believe that the alternating stress and depression of the denomination are leading more and more clergy of all orders to medical or other early retirement options.
Bp. Walker’s not a fave of mine, but I will pray tonight for his healing and the presence of the Lord as he steps away from active episcopal ministry.
