At least a story that does not involve bicycle racing. I always how these guys can play 162 games a season without drugs.

Why does drug use have such a negative impact on bicycle racing and not seem to make much of a blip on the radar screen of other professional sports such as baseball? in Cycling, can’t an entire team be banned from a race if one person uses performance enhancing drugs?

Last year my 10 year old son played over 50 games from April to August and he didn’t get paid millions to do it, and the only enhancing thing he used was gatorade and sunflower seeds 😉

Being next to the Detroit Tigers baseball stadium, and having been in the clubhouse and met the players, I have observed that 162 game schedule, (especially with all the travel) can be grueling. But they also have dieticians, nutrition consellors, personal trainers and they feed them in the clubhouse as well. They are warned not to take a vitamin without checking with the medical staff to make sure it doesn’t contain any questionable substances!

This is a plain and simple case of a player’s natural competitiveness wanting to do whatever he has to to stay on top of the game.

And so the immediate result of the loss of Manny’s great offensive skills is an ugly loss to the lowly Washington Nationals, the Dodgers’ first loss at home this season and stopping a 7-game winning streak. If only Manny could have been in Left Field instead of Juan Pierre. Then the bullpen wouldn’t have turned a 6-0 lead into an 11-9 loss. Shame on you, Manny! ;->
