Well, both the lead anchors were on vacation (as was probably half the country) and the US Open was on for part of the time frame later in the week.

Let’s see, numbers from recent Gallup poll – “Thus far in 2009, 40% of Americans interviewed in national Gallup Poll surveys describe their political views as conservative, 35% as moderate, and 21% as liberal.”
Thus, 21% divided by CBS, NBC and ABC equals miserable audience numbers. They best hope Fox decides to stay on cable only. How bright did Murdoch have to be to see how easy it would be to capture half of the viewing public? <;^))

My husband adds to this the conversion to all-digital TV. If you don’t have a new TV, now you can’t get the evening news unless you have cable or satellite, and if you’ve got that, you have other news choices, like Fox, for instance. Bye bye network evening news.

Will this make the evening news?

We don’t watch commercial TV. We don’t have cable so if we wanted to watch the commercial news we put up with the weak analog signal. With the switch to digital, even though we have a digital converter, we now get nothing, zero, zip. As the saying goes: “We are from the government and we are here to help you!”

CBS and ABC are reaping what they have sowed. A pox on both their houses as they fall into the dustbin of history.

Start looking for the government bailout of the Network News corporations!
