My relatives on my dad’s side were Irish who immigrated to Quebec and spent two generations there before moving to the U.S. Quebec is part of Canada isn’t it?

I had the privilege of participating with the Princes Patricia’s Canadian Light Infantry in Winter Warfare training and to this day I look at them as brothers in arms. They were our decorated partners in the second world war, Korea, and Afghanistan. They gave one of their own in policing the short lived piece in Vietnam when we withdrew.
I love them as I do the men I served with in Vietnam.

Growing up in Metro Detroit (and by His grace living here again) I was surprised when I moved out east that not all Americans new the Canadian National Anthem (learned by watching Hockey Night in Canada on CBC), knew the capital is Ottawa, knew that the Grey Cup was the Canadian Football championship, and that you always have to check your change to make sure you didn’t get a canadian coin by accident.

    3. stjohnsrector,
Also growing up in Metro Detroit (Royal Oak) we had to go south to get to Canada (Windsor Ontario). We also had a Canadian TV station CKLW (Windsor) providing us with a perspective on Canadian culture.
