What is suggests to me is what I have seen in the past 20 years: the myriad forms and frequent use of the f-bomb does not constitute literary quality and in fact suggests that today’s writer’s are barely literate.
I was amazed at the number of quotes from Casablanca. I counted at least 6 –by far the most of any one movie. And to support what Dan posted, I would have thought the Bruce Willis quote from Die Hard “Yippie-Cay-Ye Motherf*****” would have made it.
Two of the first three were by Marlon Brando. Casablanca does have some great lines.
I feel they left out a great one from Caddyshack. “That’s the worst looking hat I ever saw. You buy a hat like that, I bet they give you a free bowl of soup. Oh, it looks good on you though!”
I think of it every time I see KJS in her bishop’s outfit.
The quotations which came from real life situations really shouldn’t be counted (e.g., “Houston, we havea a problem,” “…luckiest man on the face of the earth.”)
By the way, shoudn’t it be “an offer he don’t refuse”?
