I’m a former Episcopalian, former continuing Anglican, safely home in the [Eastern] Orthodox Church. None the less, the thought of this blasphemous desecration taking place at an RC altar was painful to me. I emailed the RC bishop to thank him for rescinding the permission. I guess the modern Methodist church is pretty much in sync with what TEc is doing. Sad.

Why are they crossing borders in order to ordain an Episcopal Bishop? Arent there any Episcopal churches available?

Kate Schori feigning Eucharist on a altar of a RC parish. If that is not spiritual violence then I do not know what is!

I concur with comments 1 and 3. Well done to the RC Bishop.

Not exactly. Only parts of it. The liberals in the northeast and west coast are dying and miniscule compared to the UMC in the South. The Duke and Asbury grads will take over in a generation. One point of hope: roughly one sixth of all new pastors in the UMC graduate from Asbury which is not one of the 13 UMC supported seminaries.

Well said, Intercessor! I would be shocked if a Roman heirarch would permit a heresiarch (which she very much is in the eyes of most denominations) to do a forbidden ritual on one of their altars, in one of their places of worship. It would literally be a desecration of sacred space.

The Episcopalians should study this specimen as long as they can, because none of them in this generation have seen a vertebrate in the clothes of a bishop before.

Foo. This is sad, uncharitable, unchristian.

  9. Chris Molter says:

#7, agreed. She should have known better than to ask the Catholics to violate their own teachings. Very unChristian, indeed.

Very nice — kudos to the RCs!

    AMEN!

I am modestly surprised this was even attempted. Here in Chicago, when Frank Griswald was to be ordered, the RC archbishop was ordered by Rome to not permit us to use their (larger) cathedral. That led to the ordination at Elmhurst College which actually had more space which we filled. So it worked out.

Of course back then the relevant authority in Rome was one Joseph Ratzinger….
