  1. Creedal Episcopalian says:

[blockquote] “There is space equally for anyone and everyone, regardless of color, ability, gender or sexual orientation. It is an inclusive communion”, Bishop De Chickera orated at Canterbury Cathedral where Dr. Rowan Williams, the incumbent Archbishop of Canterbury, presided. [/blockquote]

Sounds like he likes Kool-aid. Is Ceylon (er, Sri Lanka) one of those places beholden to TEC for funding, or is there a chance this gentleman will be replaced by a relative conservative?

Yeah – there were some colorful reports of his opening sermon to the bishops at Lambeth 2008
[blockquote]Bishop Chickera spoke of a church in Sri Lanka that has survived several bouts in the last decade of warring and peace. … He concluded by singing a Buddhist chant for all the bishops of the Communion, both those here “and those not here.” -Cherie Wetzel, Anglicans United

De Chickera concluded his sermon with a low, rhythmic Buddhist chant as the cathedral bells tolled.” -Solange De Santis, Episcopal Life[/blockquote]
Ceylon is a is under the extraprovincial oversight of the Archbishop of Canterbury – you know, one of those long distance oversight relationships, he is so disapproving of for others.

An odd way of departure, from a bishop with some very odd ideas. Wassup?
