Gay Muslims Find Freedom, of a Sort, in the U.S.

About 15 people marched alongside the Muslim float in this city’s notoriously fleshy Gay Pride Parade earlier this year, with various men carrying the flags of Egypt, Lebanon, Palestine and Turkey and even Iran’s old imperial banner.

While other floats featured men dancing in leather Speedos or women with scant duct tape over their nipples, many Muslims were disguised behind big sunglasses, fezzes or kaffiyehs wrapped around their heads.

Even as they reveled in newfound freedom compared with the Muslim world, they remained closeted, worried about being ostracized at the mosque or at their local falafel stand.

“They’re afraid of the rest of the community here,” said Ayman, a stocky 31-year-old from Jordan, who won asylum in the United States last year on the basis of his sexuality. “It’s such a big wrong in the Koran that it is impossible to be accepted.”

Really. Islam isn’t all peace and light? It, along with Buddhism and Christianity, says the same thing about homosexual behavior. My, it isn’t just fundagelicals after all.

“feisty festival”,,,,,,,, I’m sure that is a mis-print. What I saw in pictures of it was more filthy than festive.

So that’s why the “president” of Iran said there were no homosexuals in Iran — he sent them all over here?

But you notice how the homosexuals are solving the problem. They are rewriting what the Koran says – well, let’s say reinterpreting – although I would find it hard to claim that I could not figure out what “abomination” meant, that its meaning was ambiguous. Are we familiar with this method of dealing with scripture, esp. when it is plain? Perhaps they will all join TEC, the whole lot.
Then we will have Muslim-Christians and we will have a priest for them. How richly they deserve each other.

D’y’suppose Susan Russell is going to run to their defense?

Incidentally, those parades give tastelessness and coarseness a new meaning. How can this not be public indecency? One watches and wonders: If this is the real homosexual and lesbian identity, why do we pander to it? Is this what multiculturalism and inclusivity are good for? Would you want these people living next door to you? These are appalling human beings, shameless, coarse, exhibitionistic, and, rather obviously, morally bankrupt. Just think, this is what TEC is drawing into itself. Larry

Now if all the fundy reasserters would stop saying it’s all about sex… But wait, I guess it is.
