I am thankful for the opening of the Ham Mukasa library at Uganda Christian University on October 29, 2011. The beautifully designed and wonderfully executed construction of this appropriate technology (yes, green can be good) building provide the essential study space for 1400 students and upgrades the old library seating only about 150. It is much needed for the continued development of the Anglican University in East Africa which is already getting high marks for its innovative degree programs. I was privileged to work for the development team, Uganda Christian University Partners, doing fund raising for this great new addition to the Mukono Campus. God is at work in East Africa and at UCU. I am thankful for all the donors who sacrificed to get this building on line. I wish all of them could have joined our recent mission to Uganda and seen the many graduates serving East Africa in fields like urban planning, nursing and health care, community development, education and of course the priesthood and episcopate of the Anglican Churches of Uganda, Sudan, Kenya, Rwanda and beyond. PTL!
My Church helping me to pull though. I was unemployed again in October. I was beyond contemplating suicide, I was plaining it. I was not going to go though a long period of unemployment again. My Church help me to pull though.
I heard yesterday from my oncologist that I am in “complete remission.” No sign of cancer. So thankful to God and the medical staff at Rush University Hospital.
I am thankful for God’s faithfulness to me…even when I have not been quite faithful to Him. I am thankful for this blogsite and for Stand Firm…for all of you who keep me sane with intelligent comments.
I’m very grateful for having food and my modest home. It sounds cliche but I don’t mean it that way at all. I am so thankful for the stability of knowing where my next meal is coming from and where I’ll lay my head at night. For so many people these days, that’s not the case.
I’m also grateful that I have some very good doctors and they discovered a cardiac problem that can be treated before it becomes potentially fatal or incapacitating.
I am thankful for so many blessings in my life notwithstanding some challenges, particularly with health issues which is ridiculous in my early fifties; learning more and going deeper with God this year. He is faithful and trustworthy.
