“Away down South in the land o’ cotton, ol’ times there are not forgotten….”
In the making of the movie “Gettysburg,” actor Michael Douglas, playing Gen. Lee, was riding his horse in costume up to the scene of the next shot, and all the reenactors surrounding him spontaneously broke into cheers. The director set up some cameras, made them do it again and put the scene in the movie. Very few common soldiers were slaveholders, and never was a worse cause supported by better men.
We give thanks for “General Lee and the Confederacy”???????
