“Muslim-Christian clashes”. Right. Copts try to demonstrate peacefully and are pelted with rocks. An angry mob attacks a church while they try to mourn their dead and lobs firebombs. The police respond by shooting tear gas into the besieged church. But these are just clashes, say the press. Nobody’s to blame really. Total moral equivalence between the parties involved.

Can the press once, just once, admit that Christians are the victims here? Instead, they provide cover for the systematic destruction of the ancient Christian communities of the Middle East. Profoundly sad.

More than “a church,” it’s the Cathedral seat of the Coptic Pope. Broken glass raining down on people inside the church compound, flung from buildings outside the walls, and tear gas fired INTO the compound by police outside. All because some Coptic children were accused, maybe falsely, of painting graffiti on a mosque in the Delta.

Indeed #1! As in Nigeria, it’s always a “clash between” Muslims and Christians, not an “attack upon” Christians.

The news this evening is that there are at least six dead and 89 wounded. You can count on most of those casualties being Copts.
