Thursday Mental Health Break–The Gregory Brothers Wonderful Country Version of "Wrecking Ball"

Listen to the whole thing–I stumbled onto this by accident this week and I just love it–give it a couple of seconds at the beginning because it does not start cleanly; KSH.

    Amazing!
People can actually make music without taking off their clothes!

A vast improvement. And much more fun.

While Miley Cyrus’s video is a wreck (ha! no pun intended, though) the original song isn’t too bad. I’ll have to give this cover a thumbs up, though. Really like the tight timing. I suspect to see more covers, as the song allows it.

In a similar vein, contrast and compare “…Baby One More Time” by Britney Spears and the song cover by Travis, which brings out the pathos, but almost loses the opening piano riff. It’s also been covered by many others, including Tori Amos (I’ll spare everyone the lousy audio). Interesting when pop songs get reinterpreted and the fact the results compare so well shows how good the song was written.

I’ll add after that, that with their shared management Cyrus will probably be compared with Spears for a long time, yet.

I really need to remember to write off line so I can edit and then copy and paste. My last post is almost unreadable. Sorry about that.

What is so funny about this is I have never heard the original or seen the video, and only read about those as a result of catching the above musical delight.

I am now so glad I haven’t, too.
