Well, read Doris Kearns Goodwin’s Team of Rivals about Lincoln’s nomination, getting pledges for delegates to support him on subsequent ballots. Granted, this is different since there’s only two remaining, but I can see both sides courting each other’s delegates if things get tied up and more than one round of votes is taken.

But this is the standard operating procedure of the Clinton Team — first a story ‘leaked’ by one of their own, either for them or against their opponent, or even against them; then a LOT of press coverage; followed by Clinton or one of her staff denying it happened; and then a LOT of press coverage about how abused they were by this false information. If the press is positive, however, they simply follow through.

Bill did this all through his presidency, with ‘trial polling balloons’. If the results came back favorable, he did it. If not he denied he was even considering it, and how dare they even suggest it?

In other words, they haven’t changed. 🙂

The Clintonites are ruthless, and they should be. Not that I agree with them, but there should be no quarter for the Obama campaign. You’re not doing them a favor if you don’t out every single weakness during the primaries.
