(Eleanor Parker) A medieval poem to the Holy Cross, Steadfast at the still point of the turning world:

Steadfast cross, among all others
Thou art a tree of great price;
In branch and flower such another
I know not of, in wood nor copse.
Sweet are the nails, and sweet is the tree,
And sweeter is the burden that hangs upon thee.

Read it all.
