    ANNO TERRIBILLIS

  2. Jim K says:

    Not so “terribilis,” IMHO.

Millions found Christ and accepted Him as their Lord and Saviour.
Millions more died in His grace and were the beneficiaries of His death and resurrection.
Millions began their recovery from addiction, mental illness, abusive relationships and other kinds of slavery.
Millions served God and their fellow men through innumerable acts of charity and mercy.
Millions spent this year in faithful marriages and as devoted and caring parents–of their own children and others’ children as well.
In the US, for the 44th time in our history, the office of the President was filled by a lawful and democratic process and without a shot being fired.
In our little family, my wife served wonderfully as our Parish Secretary, our son documented every service and event with photographs, we all three played our handbells with enthusiasm and joy, and I sang in the choir, played my euphonium and bass fiddle and completed my term on the Vestry. Our tithes went for the maintenance of the Parish, the ministries of the Parish and Diocese, and the glory of God in the world.

And from the first minute of the year until the last, God reigned in Heaven and on earth.

All in all, not a bad year; no matter what happened to anyone’s mortgage or 401k.

  3. Mike Bertaut says:

Setting aside 401k’s and mortgages: Good Riddance to a challenging and abusive year! Bye! Get out of here! Not going to miss you a bit!

I feel like a foot soldier who’s been on the line a little too long. I need some R & R away from years like 2008.

    But that’s just me!…mrb

    Mike: Amen and amen. Larry

  5. Larry Morse says:

If I ever doubted that self-discipline and self-resraint were essential a sane society, this year removed all doubt. Madoff? Wall St? Starter castles on no money? Ssm? Bailouts for the rich? Flying in private jets to beg for bailout money? Credit card debt? Without restraint (to alt er Confucius a little) no man can longer endure adversity nor can he survive success. Larry
