That was one of the best football games I’ve seen in a while.
Of course, it was also marred by the excessive penalties. I believe that the Cardinals had over 100 yards in penalties!
Sure was a nail-biter! GREAT game! I’ve lived in Texas almost as long as I did near Pittsburgh, being born and raised in a Pittsburgh suburb. But I will always remain a Steelers fan. The Rooney family has owned and operated that team with the utmost integrity. They can’t compete with the salaries many teams are able to pay in the league but they do their best to field a good team and the organization is like a family.
I have to say, with no vested interest in either team, that I had no intention of watching the super bowl, but after five minutes I was sucked in.
By the end of the game, I was screaming at the TV, throwing stuff, and remembering why, as a Kid I hated the Pittsburgh Steelers.
“Hey Terry, why didn’t you play at LSU?–“Well, they had this thing called the ACT, and I never could pass it, but Louisiana Tech said they’d love to have me…” (Terry Bradshaw during the BCS Championship coverage in 2008)
They play like thugs, they act like thugs, and I’m still trying to decide how many of the refs had money on the steelers.
Point 1: The interception/runback right before the half. On the replay there were not one but TWO blocks in the back by steelers defensive players trying to get the guy further down the field, right in front of the refs. Ignorance is bliss I guess.
Point 2: Roughing the passer on the Cards: Rulebook says if I’ve left my feet and the pass is released during my flight and I hit the QB it’s not roughing the passer as long as I don’t initiate helmet to helmet contact. Yet the flag flew. To quote Al Michaels: “Well, how is the defense supposed to rush Big Ben at all if they call that roughing the passer?”
Point 3: Roughing the holder: I can’t stop laughing at that one. The guy is clipped at the feet by a defender, looses his balance and FALLS on the holder, Personal Foul! Give me a serious break.
And then, our interception returning thug #92 takes it upon himself to pin Francisco to the turf and beat the crap out of him on TV after the play is over. To quote John Madden: “I’d toss him for that, he needs to be out of the game for that.” But no, a flag and he stays on the field.
Like I said, I entered this game with no allegiances or cares, but the combination of thuggery and bad officiating had me rooting hard for the Cards by the end of the game. Steelers win? A sham, they didn’t deserve it. Not that the Cards didn’t screw up a lot, but beating themselves, the Steelers, and the Refs is too much for any team.
I missed the game — to be honest, I forgot about the game — but I have to say that I still carry a grudge against the Steelers from a couple of years ago, when the Seahawks were robbed. Robbed, I tell you!
Yeah, that was a good game. I thought for sure Pittsburgh was going to flush it at the end, but they managed to pull it out.

I enjoy an intense game, but that was just too intense. I won’t be sleeping tonight, and I’m a Steeler fan!
And the PB thinks she can take this town on.
What a game!
It was awesome! I actually went home during the third quarter from a party and then flipped the TV on when I got home and WOW! There’s a lesson there.

May I be the lone voice here saying I wish the Cardinals had pulled it out, but great game nonetheless!
Un. Believable. What a great game.

My two cents. PHew! Glad that’s over!…
KTF!…mrb
Even with all the bad calls, the Cards pulled of a magnificent game. It is a shame they couldn’t pull off the win, but hey, that’s football!
