  1. MotherViolet says:

cross-border interventions should be stopping soon as ACNC can provide it’s own Bishops. So when will blessings and ordinations stop?

    When Hell freezes over, evidently.

  3. francis says:

He has had them. Twice. In New York. He has had meetings with each of the Bishops who have left TEC various times. DOA.

  4. DonGander says:

I wonder who the mediator is…. and why such a person(s) is necessary.

And, besides, TEC isn’t talking – they are taking action. This is like FDR trying to get discussions going with Hitler in 1944!

    Don

I am not so sure that this is bad. A negotiated settlement should be in the ACNA’s interest. If they can get recognization as being in Communion with the +++ABC that will be a big win even if they are not recognized as a Province. They will already be in Communion with much of the Anglican Communion. Who knows in exchange for TEC keeping the “vote” and sole remaining “recognized province” – perhaps the +++ABC can get some sort of workable settlement on the property disputes. If the +++ABC is talking to the ACNA TEC can only come out worse for it. Be optimistic – negotiated peace’s can be a good thing.

  6. Br. Michael says:

Chipa, at this point I no longer want to be in communion with the AC. It is as bad as TEC.

  7. evan miller says:

One of the most ludicrous proposals yet. The only area where mediation might be appropriate would be in property disputes, and those are none of the ABC’s business and TEC won’t hear of it.

  8. The_Archer_of_the_Forest says:

I think there is an inherent problem with having “ongoing dialogue” and “listening processes” if it just turns into a perpetual airing of the same opinions over and over again. If no one is willing to budge or even consider they might be wrong, then it seems to me to be fruitless in the end.

Thread Godwined in 4. Probably not a record though.

  10. Cennydd says:

Actually, I see no reason why +++Rowan wouldn’t recognize the ACNA as a province, because what has he got to lose? If he does choose to recognize us as a province of the Communion, what can Schori and Company do about? The answer is NOTHING.

  11. Intercessor says:

    Cenny–The checkbook would close…

  12. libraryjim says:

    Reid,
I think historical allusions are not enough to invoke Godwin’s Law. In this case, it is appropriate.

  13. julia says:

I agree that the mediation could be a good thing. I don’t believe TEC will back down and in mediation they may have to “give” something to keep going in the direction they are going to go in anyway.

    Br. Michael,

There is a nice, large Greek Orthodox Church in downtown West Palm Beach. I attended a Greek Food Festival there once.

As for Tallahassee, there is one not too far from me. I think I may be paying them a visit soon. 🙁

  15. Cennydd says:

Intercessor, I’m quite sure that another source(s) of funds could be found within the Communion if that were the case.

  16. Cennydd says:

But then again maybe it’s time the ACC and the ACO went on a diet.

  17. Br. Michael says:

14, The one in Tallahassee is Holy Mother of God I believe.

  18. libraryjim says:

Correct. They also started a small “Coptic” Orthodox Church, but it is too far away. Fantastic looking building on the outside though. St. Mary & St. George COC.
