Pope Benedict XVI, meeting with Jews in an effort to mend fences after lifting the excommunication of a schismatic bishop who has publicly denied the scale of the Holocaust, said Thursday that the Catholic Church was “profoundly and irrevocably committed” to rejecting anti-Semitism.
He also condemned Holocaust denial as “intolerable and altogether unacceptable,” especially to clergy, and said it should “be clear to everyone” that the Holocaust was “a crime against God and humanity.”
Addressing a delegation of 60 from the Conference of Presidents of Major American Jewish Organizations, an umbrella group, the pope also said for the first time that he planned to visit Israel. The Vatican has not yet officially announced the trip, but Vatican sources said it was expected to happen in May.
I had a different adjective pop to mind.
Evidently, all the media hoopla is once again a biased, mean-spirited, and ill-informed way of attacking the Holy Father, whose views on this subject are already well known and expressed in gestures such as his visit to a synagogue in NYC. Each of these efforts creates lasting damage, neither the press nor activists groups such as the ADL ever seem to apologize or retract their hasty judgements.
Well, at least the Pope is clear.
Oh, for a majority of leaders who wanted to be clear!

Holocaust deniers shouldn’t be tolerated. That includes the oblivious Bishop Neff Powell of Southwestern Virginia. Here he is noted for not only being a Planned Parenthood supporter but the CHAIR of the board. What blood is on his hands as he sides with those who promote partial birth abortion…and abortion for any and all comers.

No surprise there. The ADL is the Jesse Jackson/Al Sharpton of the Jewish community. It has long since lost its reason to exist, and so must come up with imaginary bugaboos to bark at.
