This is nothing more than an over played hand trying to scare Americans into being ever more emotionally dependent on big government and to gladly send O’Bama all our money.

The press is involved, and they will all be laughing their heads off when they see us going to the safeway with our blue masks on.

I am not a conspiracy theorist but I have to admit that I am a wee bit skeptical of this “crisis.” A little-known fact is that an average of 30,000 Americans die each year from the flu. We don’t hear of states of emergency or hand-wringing over the impending doom about to befall us. We are simply urged to be vaccinated and we carry on.

Any time people die of illness, it is a tragedy and I grieve for their families. I am concerned that this flu is now being used as an impetus to push through universal health care. As Rahm Emmanuel once said, “Never let a crisis go to waste.” If I’m skeptical, I think I have good reason to be.

Locally, we enjoy pandemic warm-up exercises every winter as influenza and noroviruses pass through nursing homes and clog the hospitals. But if you aren’t in the business and managed to avoid the need for hospitalization during those periods you would have no idea of the issues on relatively managable days.
