I’ve always loved Palestrina. The Reformation produced such good music (I noticed a few years ago that my favorite hymns were mostly 16th and 17th c. German Reformation hymns), but so, in this instance, did the Counter-Reformation.
Yes, I too simply adore Palestrina’s hauntingly beautiful music. It combines fervent musical intensity with a severe degree of restraint that only heightens the sense of passionate devotion to Christ. Keep it up, Kendall. Some of us are thrilled when you post clips of outstanding choirs singing great sacred music like this.
